Tax help for people affected by foot and mouth outbreak
HM Rvenue and Customs (HMRC) has set up a helpline for peole who have been affected by the foot and mouth outbreak. The helpline number is 0845 3661207. It is open seven days a week from 8am to 8pm.
HMRC will defer collection of taxes and duties or agree instalment arrangements with taxpayer who are unable to pay as a result of severe difficulty following the foot and mouth outbreak. It has also said that it will suspend debt collections proceedings, defer compliance checks and investigations, provide help and advice in dealing with other practical tax matters arising from the outbreak, and, where appropriate, consider giving up interest and surcharges on tax which is paid late because of the outbreak.
